Ingredients
  

  • 2 beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin – about 200–250g each)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black pepper – to taste
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce (optional, for flavor)

Instructions
 

Prepare The Steak:

  • Take the steak out of the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking. Pat it dry with paper towels.

Season:

  • Rub both sides of the steak with olive oil, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. You can also add soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor.

Heat The Pan:

  • Preheat a heavy skillet or grill pan over high heat until very hot.

Cook The Steak:

  • Add a bit of oil or butter to the pan.
  • Place the steak in and sear for 2–3 minutes per side for medium-rare, 3–4 minutes for medium, or longer if you prefer it well-done.
  • Add garlic and rosemary/thyme during the last minute and baste the steak with the melted butter for extra flavor.

Rest The Steak:

  • Remove from heat and let it rest for 5–10 minutes on a cutting board. This helps the juices redistribute.

Serve:

  • Slice against the grain and serve with mashed potatoes, vegetables, or salad.
