Boiled eggs are eggs—usually chicken eggs—that are cooked by placing them in boiling or near-boiling water until the yolk and white are set to your desired firmness.

- Water
- Salt (optional – helps prevent cracking)
- Ice or cold water (for cooling)
Boil
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat.
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, cover the pot with a lid and turn off the heat (for electric stove) or reduce to low (for gas).
Set A Timer
Depending on how you like your eggs:
Soft-boiled: 6–7 minutes
Medium-boiled: 9–10 minutes
Hard-boiled: 11–12 minutes
