Ingredients
  

  • 2 ½ cups (315 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (100 g) sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) warm milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Optional: powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or glaze for topping

Instructions
 

Prepare The Dough

  • In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, egg, butter, and vanilla.
  • Knead for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First Rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1–2 hours (until doubled in size).

Shape Donuts

  • Roll dough to about ½ inch thickness.
  • Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cutters (one large, one small for the hole).

Second Rise

  • Place cut donuts on parchment, cover, and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.

Fry Donuts

  • Heat oil to 180°C (350°F).
  • Fry donuts for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Add Toppings

  • Dust with powdered sugar, roll in cinnamon sugar, or dip in glaze/chocolate.
