Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 500g (about 1 lb) fresh mushrooms (button, cremini, or mixed), cleaned and sliced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional for extra umami)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil
    butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add garlic
    and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add mushrooms
    in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes to allow browning.
  • Stir and continue
    to cook for another 5–7 minutes until mushrooms are golden brown and tender.
  • Season
    with salt, pepper, and soy sauce if using.
  • Garnish
    with fresh herbs if desired.
  • Serve
    warm as a side dish, or over toast, pasta, or rice.
