- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 500g (about 1 lb) fresh mushrooms (button, cremini, or mixed), cleaned and sliced
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional for extra umami)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Heat oil butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add mushrooms in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for 3–4 minutes to allow browning. Stir and continue to cook for another 5–7 minutes until mushrooms are golden brown and tender. Seasonwith salt, pepper, and soy sauce if using. Garnishwith fresh herbs if desired. Serve warm as a side dish, or over toast, pasta, or rice.
