Ingredients

  • 200 g pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
  • 250 g prawns (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup fresh cream (or cooking cream)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice or zest
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or basil (chopped)

Instructions

Cook The Pasta

  • Boil pasta in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving ¼ cup of pasta water.

Cook The Prawns

  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add prawns, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.

Prepare The Sauce

  • In the same pan, add remaining oil or butter. Sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and chili flakes. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Make It Creamy

  • Lower heat and stir in the cream and Parmesan cheese. Add reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.

Combine Everything

  • Add cooked pasta and prawns to the sauce. Toss well until evenly coated.

Finish And Serve

  • Add lemon juice or zest, sprinkle with fresh herbs, adjust seasoning, and serve hot.
