- 200 g dried spaghetti
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 400 g canned tomatoes (or fresh, chopped)
- 1 tsp dried oregano (or Italian seasoning)
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional, for heat)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Cook The Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions (usually 8–10 minutes) until al dente.
Drain, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.
Prepare The Sauce
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add garlic and onion, sauté until soft and fragrant.
Stir in canned tomatoes, oregano, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine Pasta & Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the sauce.
Toss well, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
