Ingredients
  

For The Cake

  • 2½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1¾ cups (350g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk, room temperature

Optional Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2–3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare The Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and line two 8-inch or 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix The Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Set aside.

Step 3: Cream Butter And Sugar

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar for about 3–5 minutes until light and fluffy.

Step 4: Add Eggs And Vanill

  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5: Combine Wet And Dry Ingredients

  • Add the flour mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk.
  • Begin and end with the flour mixture.
  • Mix on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6: Bake

  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  • Smooth the tops with a spatula.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7: Cool

  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes.
  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

  • Beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, one cup at a time.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and salt.
  • Add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  • Beat for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy.

Assemble The Cake

  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate.
  • Spread an even layer of vanilla buttercream over the top.
  • Add the second cake layer.
  • Frost the top and sides evenly.
  • Decorate with sprinkles, fresh berries, or piped frosting if desired.
